Facials Are My New Favorite Self-Care Practice

It was a glow I’d never seen before!
Having someone with expert knowledge to help treat your problems can definitely be an awesome resource.
If you are someone prone to stress and tension like me, then get a facial!

For my birthday this year, I decided to go all out by focusing the entire month on me and trying new self-care practices.  One of those activities involved going to a licensed esthetician to get a facial!  Luckily, the salon I’d been going to provided facials, so I booked my first appointment.  I booked the “Glow and Go” which is a condensed version of the Classic Facial.  You get all the same treatment as the Classic Facial (except for extractions) in just 30 minutes.  It was perfect for me because I don’t have lots of time to spare during the day.

My esthetician, is the owner of Simply Grace Aesthetics which is located in The Beauty Bar of Warner Robins.  We introduced ourselves when I arrived before following her into the back room.

I was welcomed by the perfect ambient and relaxing mood with dim, fluctuating string lights hanging from the wall and soft R&B music.  Everything was organized and tidy, which is great for reducing stress and anxiety!

She instructed me where to lay my things, undress, and get comfortable on the bed.  After undressing, I relaxed onto the heated bed and pulled the covers over me. I’m six months into sleeping on my $3,000 Sleep Number bed, but this bed had me re-thinking my whole life!! It was so comfortable!  When she returned, she washed her hands thoroughly and began the facial.

If you’re new to facials and don’t know what they consist of, this is the basic process

Hot-towels

Steam

Deep-cleansing

Exfoliation process

A mask

Moisturizer

Face and neck message

Lip Balm

We had easy and nice-flowing conversation in-between the hot towels, scrubs, and massaging of my face.  She also took the time to look at my skin to see if there were any concerns.  I loved the attention to detail and care for my skin.

After my thirty minutes were up I felt so relaxed and my skin felt so clean.  I took my time getting off the bed and went to the mirror to see how my face looked.  It was a glow I’d never seen before!

Now that I’ve had the experience, I can honestly say it’s going to be a part of my monthly self-care routine from now on.  There are so many benefits and good reasons to make facials a part of your self-care routine.

All the reasons you should get a facial:

  1. Get a treatment plan for your problems

This was not a motivation for my visit, but many people get facials to treat problems such as acne and other skin conditions.  Having someone with expert knowledge to help treat your problems can definitely be an awesome resource.  It can also help you know how severe your problems are and if it's worth going to a dermatologist.  On my most recent visit, we talked about some breakouts I’d been having recently and she offered to give me something to help next time.

2. Simplify your skin-care

I’m not a skin expert, but I have done a lot of research on my skin type and what products work best for me.  However, I was never 100% sure if my routine was as good as I thought it was because I’d never asked a professional.  We went over my daily routine and she assured me that I was already taking the right steps for my skin. This put me at ease and gave me confidence in the products I was using.

3. Relaxation

If you are someone prone to stress and tension like me, then get a facial! This is my main reason for getting facials.  It releases so much tension in my face, neck, and shoulders.  After my first visit, I went straight to work and people asked why I looked sleepy.  I wasn’t sleepy, just super relaxed and felt better than I ever had!

4. The Glow

It’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll be literally glowing afterwards.  We both oohed and ahhed at how glowy my skin was after the facial.  I was excited to go out and show everyone how good my skin looked.
