Rated R for Rating Fenty Beauty & Fenty Skin Products

Rihanna is one of my favorite people on the planet and I’ll tell you why.  Everything she does is just amazing, and she puts a lot of time and effort into anything she produces.  I’ve been a fan of her music since Pon de Replay, my dresser is full of lingerie and pajamas from Savage x Fenty, and now I am obsessed with her beauty products.  I know I’m kind of late hopping on the Fenty Beauty bandwagon, but I’m extremely careful about products I use on my face and skin.

When I see celebrities get into skincare, I question if they did it for the chance to hop on another trend or if it was something they were really passionate about.  Is there careful attention to ingredients, production, and formulation? Obviously, Rihanna is passionate about music, fashion (because she always looks runway ready), and her skincare ( her skin looks amazing)! So if you are one of those people still pondering on whether Fenty Beauty & Fenty Skin is worth the hype and the PRICES, then read below as I rate some of the Fenty Beauty products I’ve tried and LOVEDDD!!

(Note that this review will contain only skin products for the body (not face) and some makeup products.  I have not tried any of the facial cleansers/moisturizers/serums, so I cannot give a review on those.  But if you would like, I may make a future post on those products ;)

1).  Butta Drop Whipped Oil Body Cream ($42) - 10/10

Let me just start off by saying that this is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PRODUCT!  My obsession started when I got my best friend the sample size for Christmas.  She loved it and said it was better than some of her other products. That’s when I knew I had to try it because I keep at least 5 lotions and body creams in my bathroom at all times.

Although I would like Rihanna to consider lowering the price or making bigger containers, the body cream is too good to not try at least once.  It’s creamy texture makes it slide on your body easily, and it leaves you smelling amazingly fragrant.  Oftentimes, I have to put two more lotions or oils on over my other creams, but with this I get away with just using it or layering with one more moisturizer.  It cuts down my time to get ready so much! Of course, some people are different and may not have similar results, but from a dry skin person I say give it a shot just for the whipped oils!

2). Buff Ryder Exfoliating Body Scrub ($32) - 3/10

Obviously from the rating this looks bad, but let me explain.  I have been using body scrubs obsessively for the past 5 yrs now, and I’ve tried some really good ones before.  My idea of a good body scrub is - it smells great, leaves your body smelling great, comes with a lot of product, slides smoothly across your skin, and leaves your body feeling baby smooth.  The only positive feedback I can give on this is that it smells nice.  It does not have a smooth feeling when applying it to the skin, and it feels like I have to squeeze out the entire bottle to cover and scrub just one arm.  It also left a weird feeling like a film covering my body after I rinsed it off, and my body did not have that baby soft feel to it.  So I think this product may need to be taken back to the drawing board, in my opinion, because I don’t see myself using it again.  Think I’ll stick to my Dove Body Polish.  Just had to give you guys a brutally honest review on that one, sorry RiRi…

3).  Body Lava Body Luminizer (Brown Sugar) $41 - 8/10

I love using this to give an extra shine especially when I’m going out or have a bit of skin showing.  It also smells amazing!  But be warned, it is very glittery so you will be looking a bit like a Cullen vampire afterwards (where my Twilight fans at?). However, is it worth the price? Probably not, but I’d definitely put it on my Christmas list this year.  The bottle is quite big so it just might last me until Christmas.

4).  Match Stix Contour Skinstick (Espresso) $28 - 10/10

I tried this just because I’d been influenced by all the advertising for this product.  I’d also been using the same contour palette since my freshman year of college and it was time for an upgrade.  Like I’ve heard other people say, at first I was not super impressed.  Then the more I used it, the more it grew on me.  What I like the most is the convenience of using a stick to apply contour.  It applies so easily and yet precisely.  My contour skills have never been better and it really defines my face.  When you finish up that old contour, be sure to add this to your shopping list.

5). Gloss Bomb Heat Universal Lip Luminizer Plumper ( Hot Chocolit Heat) $20 - 9/10

Honestly, I added this to my cart just to reach free shipping. I had no idea I’d love it as much as I do.  Before using this product I was a Laneige fan all the way.  I did not think anything could replace my Laneige lip gloss, but this has.  Also, I was never a lip plumping fan, still aren’t, but I can’t stop using this for some reason.  Well a few reasons -  it smells so good I want to eat it, it gives an amazing shine to my lips, and the best part is, it’s not sticky like most lip glosses! The gloss bomb paired with my Mac lip pencil is a badass combo.  It does leave a little tingle when you apply it of course, so just be prepared to feel tha

6). Fenty Eau de Parfum ($140) -  12/10

All I need to say is - this is the the perfume that I get the most compliments on.  It has a very mature and sexy, feminine smell.  Unfortunately, it is sold out and we must wait for the next time Rihanna decides to bless us with a new stock pile.  I’m dying for my next refill.  Rihanna pleaseeeee restock this perfume…

*Update -The perfume was recently restocked in May 2022, and I was able to get my hands on a whole bottle finally!*

Summary

I think Rihanna has done a great job in creating a line of clean and sustainable products for a wide range of skincare types and shades.  From the photos, you can see the pacakaging of products are really nice and not cheap, which definitely contributes to the high prices of the products.

Is Fenty Skin & Beauty worth it?  I would say not all the products are must-haves, but many of them are worth the hype.  I hope this little review helps you decide which products to add to your cart when you want to give it a try.  Let me know down in the comments which product is your favorite!
