Viral Tik-tok Recipes You Need In Your Life

I’m always looking for new recipes to challenge myself with in the kitchen. However, I never thought TikTok would become my main source for new recipes. Before joining the popular and addictive app, I thought it was just a platform for kids to post nonsensical videos. That was until I realized it actually produces a treasure trove of useful information, such as amazing recipes!  It’s safe to say I found the cooking side of Tiktok and still haven’t found my way out.  Whenever I’m in the kitchen, my brother asks if I’m making another one of my TikTok recipes with a roll of his eyes.  The answer is usually yes!

Below are some of my favorite recipes from the popular app that I thought you guys needed for your personal menus.  Say goodbye to those old, dusty cook books and hello to Tiktok recipes!

1). Creamy Cajun Chicken (@letscookdinnertonight)

If you ever get tired of making the same meals for dinner and want something different, just type #dinnerideas into Tiktok’s search bar, and you’ll get endless videos of unique recipes.  That’s what I did one night when looking for a new dinner recipe.   I came upon this video on how to make Creamy Cajun Chicken.  It’s actually super easy, very delicious, and filling! As one commenter said, “This is what I want for dinner when my mom says there’s food at home.”  I could not have put it better myself, plus I love anything with spinach so I was hooked from the start.

I followed this recipe pretty much to the letter.  The only thing that I added was black olives. For my sides, I cooked some asparagus and twice baked potatoes.  This is the meal that I show pictures of when people ask me if I can cook, and I can thanks to @letscookdinnertonight.  Check out the recipe in the video below and take a look at the other delicious meals she has on her page!

2). Vegan Chili (@lorriashly)

This chili recipe is perfect for the upcoming fall weather.  I came upon this recipe while looking for delicious meals to make while on my Daniel Fast earlier this year.  The fasting may be over, but I’m definitely not done making this chili recipe.  For those of you afraid of trying vegan recipes, I promise you won’t be able to tell the absence of meat.

Plus, it doesn’t get easier than just throwing everything in the pot and letting it cook. Chili is my go-to meal when I don’t feel motivated to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

I added a few of my own ingredients to the recipe for extra fiber, protein, and nutrients.  Quinoa is a great replacement for meat because it mimics the texture and fullness.  For even more protein, I added more beans like cannellini and kidney beans.

3). Grilled Cheese (@myraidrecipes)

Grilled cheese sandwiches may seem pretty straightforward, but this recipe upped the game for me.  I’ve always made grilled cheeses the way my dad made them for me growing up, by grilling two pieces of wheat bread with several slaps of Kraft sliced cheese in between.

However, using freshly grated cheese will make a sandwich fuller and add more flavor (and you honestly don’t need very much).  This recipe uses cheddar and mozzarella cheese. The mozzarella looks amazing when you pull the slices apart and see the gooey cheese.  I also used ciabatta bread which looks so good when frying it in the pan.  If you have problems melting the cheese, just cover the sandwich and pan with a top for a few minutes.

A grilled cheese not enough for you? There’s also a recipe for homemade tomato soup on the same video for the grilled cheese.  I highly recommend trying both to keep you warm this upcoming fall season.

4). Mini Chocolate Chip Muffins (@maudeblackburn)

Lastly, I had to add a little dessert to the list.  These muffins are super delicious! They’ve become my favorite late night snack and help keep my blood sugar levels up while working long hours at work.

This recipe is so easy it only takes 10-15 mins in all to prepare and bake, and there’s only 5 ingredients.  I also make a dairy free and allergy-friendly version of this recipe for my brother who is allergic to dairy and peanuts.  Switch the peanut butter out for almond butter and use flaxseed meal instead of eggs.  Still delicious and technically even healthier.  Just make sure your bananas are very ripe so they’re easier to smash up.  Otherwise, you’ll end up hammering bananas for half an hour like I did the first time.
